Partnership to host 4th annual golf fundraiser

Columbus County Partnership for Children’s 4th Annual Champions for Children Golf Tournament will be Sept. 27 at Vineland Golf Course.
An avid golfer, Charmaine Blue-Singletary, program coordinator at CCPC, helps to organize the annual tournament, which is CCPC’s main fundraising event.
This is the first time the tournament will be at Vineland.
“This year, our golfers will play the 9-hole course twice, making it an 18-hole game,” Blue-Singletary said. “But don’t underestimate the fairways; there are some tough holes to play on the front and back ends of the course. You have to keep up and stay alert to make those birdies and even to make par!”
Golfers are strongly encouraged to register in advance. Early-bird registrants can save on the cost of their entry fee; early registrations, which end Sept. 6, are $65 per individual and $260 per team, after which costs are $70 per individual and $280 per team. Teams are comprised of four players, all-men or all-women. Individual players will be assigned to teams.
The entry fee includes green fees, one Mulligan, cart, refreshments, lunch and prizes. A trophy will be awarded for first place in both divisions (men and women).
For anyone interested in supporting the sponsorship but not playing, monetary donations of any amount are appreciated.
Several corporate sponsorship levels are available: Gold for $600 includes registration for four players, logos on sponsorship banner and sign, cart decal and social media recognition; Silver for $400 includes registration for two players, logos on sponsorship banner and sign and social media recognition; Bronze for $250 includes sponsorship sign and social media recognition; Combination for $380 includes sponsorship sign and team foursome. A sponsorship sign itself is $100.
The title “Champions for Children” is in honor of the donors and players that have supported or will support the Partnership through the tournament.
“We are thankful to the ‘champions’ (corporate sponsors, players, the golf club, in-kind and financial donors) who help to make our event successful year after year,” said Executive Director Dr. Selena Rowell. “We would not be able to positively impact the families and children in our area without the support of a network of organizations and individuals who care about building a brighter future for the residents of our county.”
Golfer Grace Thompson, who participates in the tournament annually, described CCPC as a “necessary program for our young children.”
“If anyone wants to support a worthwhile program and be assured that the funds received are going to help the people that really need the help – this is the program to put your energy, money and support towards,” she added.
