Whiteville goes nuts for the pecan with the North Carolina Pecan Harvest Festival in late October/early November. The festival celebrates the harvest of this cash crop in a state that produces up to five million pounds annually.
Get a taste for this treat at the Columbus Cooks Pecan Cooking Contest, and enjoy a downtown parade and festival entertainment on the downtown stage. Associated events include a queen’s luncheon, tour of homes, the 5K Pecan Run and a classic car show. There is a “Super Duper Kid’s Block” with fun activities for kids, as well as an art show and antique tractor show. And, did we mention pecans galore!
