You'll see that and a lot more by attending the annual North Carolina Watermelon Festival the third weekend of July in the friendly small town of Fair Bluff. \n\n \n\nThe festival's centerpiece is a contest to determine North Carolina's biggest watermelon\, along with a contest for the best tasting watermelon. Other activities include live music\, festival food and games\, pageants and a parade led by the reigning North Carolina Watermelon Queen. Saturday night's "Delight and Dance" has become a popular ticketed event featuring a well-known regional band. The festival takes place beside the Lumber River where a rubber duck race occurs\, and there are opportunities for tubing and kayaking.
