Event Description:
The North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences at Whiteville invites you to “Meet Me at the Museum: Saturday Explorations,” a free family-friendly science and nature program offered the third Saturday of every month. This month, the museum welcomes Christian Kammerer, Research Curator of Paleontology at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh. Kammerer will be presenting his program, “North Carolina Before the Dinosaurs: Beasts of the Triassic,” on Saturday, June 16 at 1:30 p.m. Explore the prehistoric history of the state and learn about current scientific research being done on fossil reptiles at the N.C. Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.
 
Kammerer received his Ph.D. from the University of Chicago and did his postdoctoral work at the American Museum of Natural History in New York and the Museum für Naturkunde in Berlin. He is an expert on mass extinctions, the origins of mammals, and Permo-Triassic animals. His current field of study is the Triassic fossil record of North Carolina.
